Cheever Lake/Four Mile Lake Complex

Cheever Lake is a shallow lake and marsh with excellent water quality. A driving loop and parking along the ridge allows visitors to bird from their vehicle.

Pothole Birding

Yellow water lily and Elodea grow here. Trumpeter Swan and Red-necked Grebes have nested. Beaver, Muskrat, Wood Duck, Canada Geese and migrating waterfowl are present. A forested area containing mixed trees such as Boxelder, Green Ash, and Black Walnut provides a good habitat for migrating warblers. The south end is shrubby with Plum thickets is also an excellent nesting location for a variety of songbirds.
