Iowa Lake Marsh
The marsh is not visible from the parking lot, but the view is worth the short walk up the hillside through the tallgrass prairie. The vista from the hilltop includes over 60 acres of wetland habitat. Pothole Birding Wetland birds frequenting this spot include grebe, loon, herons, waterfowl and shorebirds. There is a variety of man-made nesting structures scattered throughout the marsh. The surrounding prairie area is home to upland game birds and prairie bird species such as Bobolink, Upland Sandpiper, Dickcissel, Meadowlark and Sedge Wren. |
