(Brabec Farms, Crotty, Hansen-Breon, and Westmoreland Wetland Areas)

Pothole Birding

A 2008 WRP Bird Monitoring Survey counted 71 bird species, including 19 of greatest conservation need, in the Hansen-Breon area alone. The area hosts both migratory and resident birds of prey, song birds, wading and shore birds, waterfowl, and upland game birds, as well as Peregrine Falcons, Eastern Meadowlarks, and free-flying Trumpeter Swans.

Location Description

519 acres of restored wetland and native prairie.

Called the Varina Wetland Complex, these four adjacent wildlife areas are located 2 miles north of Varina along 110th Avenue.
